AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE WALNUT TALL CHEST OF DRAWERS OVER OGEE FEET

Item # 410QNP11W A bold and impressive object, this chest originates in southEastern Pennsylvania, possibly the Delaware River Valley. The cabinetmaker chose vivid walnut planks that lend some drama to the surface. Cove molding around the crest projects over three small drawers, two medium drawers and four broad drawers - all carefully graduated to give scale and proportion to the large facade. The drawers are hung with replaced pierced brass hardware, the frames of dovetailed white pine with integral runners grooved to accept the chamfered white pine bottom, mostly crafted of a single huge plank of pine. The drawers are flanked by the typical fluted Corinthian columns with turned caps and bases, the whole case resting over rather bold ogival feet. There is a distinct architectural flare to the case, as these were generally intended to augment the designs of the room they were intended for - the crown molding, fireplace surrounds and height of the ceilings would all play a role in how a chest like this was designed. This was clearly intended for a large room with bold and dramatic elements.

Condition Report:
Refinished with surface wear, scratches etc. Replaced brasses, original locks (no key). Several drawers with large patches, two drawers with a significant portion of the left side patched - several lips with losses and patches. Front-right foot lower 1/3 facing replaced, old cracks to feet. Please review all images below for a full overview of condition.

SALES TAX
Sales tax of 6% is collected on purchases by residents of Pennsylvania and any buyer picking up items locally at our shop. For clients arranging their own delivery, items must be collected by a licensed interstate carrier in order to be exempt from sales tax.

We professionally package all small items that can safely ship via FedEx, USPS, UPS and DHL for free and guarantee a safe delivery.
FREIGHT DELIVERY
Most furniture is pre-quoted for economical curbside delivery anywhere in the lower 48 States* via common freight carrier, generally arriving to most locations in 10-15 business days. Theitem is professionally packaged in-house, palletized and shipped on a tractor trailer - the pre-quote does not include lift-gate service but that service can be added for $ 65. We generally recommend a lift-gate for shipments with a total weight over 150 lbs, but this is at the buyer’s discretion. Buyers are notified by the carrier of the delivery date and must make arrangements to receive and inspect the goods: goods left unattended at a residence may not qualify for insurance coverage in the event of damage. In the event a buyer requests the shipping firm to provide any additional services (lift gate, change of address, etc.) or if the buyer requests an item to be held by the shipping firm, the buyer agrees to pay all service fees and storage fees incurred by Silla, ltd.Buyers are responsible for unpacking, moving the item into their home and disposing of all packing materials without assistance from the driver.* Some areas do not qualify for pre-quoted shipments, including residences with ferry-access, ultra-rural locations, or locations with truck access issues. It is very rare, but we reserve the right to disqualify an address from a pre-quote upon notification of your delivery address; in these situations, we will offer to cancel the order for you, see if a pickup at the nearest freight terminal is a practical option, revise a quote for your approval or offer a quote from a different carrier for your approval.
DAMAGE POLICYBecause we professionally package each item in-house, damage is incredibly rare. However, we understand thedisappointment that can occur in this unlikely event and will work hard to help you through the situation.Damage for items shipped with USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL must be reported to us within 24 hours of signature confirmed delivery. We will require the buyer to send us photographs of the packaging and the damage to the item. The buyer will be required to have the item safely packaged again and mailed back to our shop with a pre-paid label. Once we safely receive the item, a refund will be made for the original purchase price plus shipping via the original payment method.For common freight shipments arranged by Silla, ltd., the buyer or representative of the buyer is responsible for being available at time of delivery to inspect the packaging and item for damage - under no circumstances should the item be refused, as doing so will void the insurance coverage. In the event of damage, call us immediately, note all damage on the bill of lading while the driver is still present, take detailed pictures of the damaged packaging and item, send those images to us and we will assist you in filing the claim andworking through the process. Concealed damage and/or damage not noted on the Bill of Lading will not be covered, so be sure to fully inspect the item before signing the Bill of Lading and releasing the driver. In most cases, a representative of thefreight firm will need to inspect the item and packaging so it is the buyer’s responsibility to retain all packing materials until the claim process is complete. The carrier reserves a \"right to repair\" a damaged item to industry standard. We do work hard to move claims along as quickly as possible, but please note that claims and/or repairs will be settled with the insurance company and carrier prior to any payout to the buyer.For shipments with a carrier the buyer selects or arranges, the terms of that carrier\'s insurance coverage will apply to the shipment and the buyer will be responsible for working through the claim process with the carrier.
