18th Century Extremely Rare BOW OF LONDON Porcelain Egg cups Set & Salt Shaker :

I offer for sale in my shop the extremely rare 18th century eggcup set with matching saltshaker made by the Bow Porcelain Factory of London made of soft paste porcelain. The Bow factory was in business from 1747 to 1776. Records show the factory declared bankruptcy after the original potter / owner\'s death. The underside of this set has a very clear and distinguishable Bow Factory Mark, an anchor with a “B” on the top portion. My research found that the original mark was painted in the color blue, brown or red. The mark under this set is in the color brown. Considering the age of this item, it is amazingly in very good condition with only an occasional minor chip and no cracks or repairs. The eggcups are in the shape of egg shells and are affixed permanently to the base. This set consist of 6 eggcups with a center eggcup that is designed to store the matching egg saltshaker. The cork to the underside of the shaker is not original. The overall measurement is 8 inches in diameter and about 4 inches high. The Bow porcelain factory was active from 1747-1764 & closed in 1776. The Bow factory produced both figural and kitchenware porcelain items. During its peak production era it was a rival of the Chelsea porcelain factory in the manufacture of soft paste porcelain in Great Britain. The factory was located near Bow in what is now the London Borough of Newham . A large collection of Bow past porcelain items is held in the care of the Borough\'s Heritage and Arts Service.
