This is a tin plate lithograph tea set for children. It is unmarked, but I have found 2 others that look almost identical and have matching pieces online that are labeled 1908 antique German sets, so I have taken that same information for this. Set consists of tea pot with lid, creamer, 3 cups and saucers. I have taken photos of items from different sides, so it might appear that I have more than this quantity of items, but I wanted you to be able to see the gorgeous work from both sides of the items that are not flat. This could either be children visiting the zoo or at the circus, but due to the lack of clowns (!!) I think it represents the zoo. Children are seen looking at animals such as a bear being lead by ropes by a man with a baton. Another has a monkey dressed as a soldier and a man in front of him with a whip. Creamer scene is a boy buying balloons and some children admiring a woman with a box of birds. Teapot has a crowd of children gathered around a camel with 2 monkeys riding his back and his trainer holding both his reigns and a whip. The \"trainers\" are the reason I felt this could be a circus scene, but since I wasn\'t in a zoo in 1908 I don\'t know if this was common there as well. The descriptions make the tea set sound unpleasant, but the batons and whips are not the first thing you notice when you look at it! All pieces have scuffing and damage due to age and play. This is an adorable set and will make a perfect addition to your collection! No original box.
