1908 WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT 2 Piece Brass & Tin Political BILLY POSSUM Button 7/8”

My husband and mother passed away and I am selling items from their estates. They both had many hobbies and collections and they loved antiques and collectables of all kinds. Mother loved to buy all kinds of things and never use them!

DESCRIPTION:

I don’t know much about buttons so I hope the description is right. Please look at the photos for details. These are from my mother’s estate.

This sale is for a Billy Possum antique button.

According to Deb Wisniewski’s book, Antique & Collectible Buttons, “Billy Possum was the prevailing nickname for Howard Taft, Theodore Roosevelt’s successor for the presidency in 1908.Also, a children’s clothes button.”

It measures 7/8 inch in diameter.

This is a nice piece of political history in a button.

This is a two piece button, brass top with a tin back.

APPROX. MEASUREMENTS:

Diameter: 7/8”

CONDITION:

The button is in very good condition. The button has a spot and I did not try to remove it. I did not polish this button because most buyers like the patina that comes with age.

This is a beautiful button to add to your button or political collection.

This is clean and ready to wear, display or give as a gift.

This had been carefully stored along with 1000’s of other items Mother purchased and never used. She loved buttons and there are huge tubs of them I will be listing.
