This listing is for one stamped steel and celluloid,pin-back campaign button for William Taft\'s 1908 campaign forpresident of the United States. This has three vertical stripes ofred, white and blue, with William H. Taft\'s image in a center spaceshaped like a shield, with a laurel wreath surrounding that. There isno union marking or bug on this anywhere. This measures 7/8” to me in a collection of campaign memorabilia that once used tobe on display in the home of IVANBENJAMIN SINCLAIRwhowas Chairman of the Young Republicans of Pennsylvania in 1966 through1968. He was a Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1968when Richard Nixon was nominated and attended at least one event atthe White House while Nixon was President. He also was a prominentlawyer who practiced law before the U.S. Supreme Court as well as theSupreme, Superior and Commonwealth courts of Pennsylvania and heldoffices in the Sons of the American Revolution and the Military Orderof the Loyal Legion of the United States. He died in May of is a tiny “dig” in the surface on the frontat the bottom of the red stripe and if you turn this sideways to thelight you can see fine surface abrasion across the front. But on thewhole, the front looks awfully good for a used pin this old.Certainly, it is in better condition that most of the other pins inthis collection I was given to sell. The back side does have a fitof rust/corrosion going on. I have not attempted to alter or cleanthis in any way.
