This is an endlessly entertaining magical volume, one of our favourite and best illustrated classics!

Very special - the definitive illustrated edition.

The book is, of course, none other than Grimm\'s Fairy Tales, superbly illustrated and decorated in colour and black-and-white by Arthur Rackham, very special as a Limited Signed Edition of 750 copies. The illustrations to the book are very well known and much loved. We have endeavoured to include as many photographs of the charming colour plates and of the black-and-white drawing and vignettes below as is feasible, however, there is much more within this fantastically illustrated work.

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL COPY.

Book: GRIMM’S FAIRY TALES, or The Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm, illustrated by Arthur Rackham. One of a Limited Signed Edition of 750 copies, signed by Arthur Rackham on the limitation page. Publisher: Constable & Company, London, 1909. Finely bound in new gilt vellum with silk ties, intricate gilt decorations on the cover and spine after the original design by Arthur Rackham, TEG ( top edge gilt, others uncut or rough-cut as this is otherwise known). Contents include 40 ( forty) full colour tipped-in illustrations, all under red-captioned tissues, and numerous black and white drawings, silhouettes and vignettes by Arthur Rackham, this volume is profusely, very frequently illustrated and decorated. The text and black and white illustrations are on watermarked English hand-made antique style laid paper, which is textured and thick, similar to Arches or Fabriano. Impressive, very heavy and thick oversized volume. Top Edge Gilt (TEG), others uncut. Book condition: A superb copy as shown below in photographs. FINE EXTERNALLY. Bright and clean binding with only normal colour differentiation typical to vellum, binding in perfect condition. FINE/NEAR FINE internally. Two tissues with a ripple and a slight wrinkle as is typical to these books, the tissues often have ripples due to the nature of the paper and due to the way that they are attached, and the ripples naturally produce a wrinkle over 100+ years of age, these wrinkles are very light, and are entirely commensurate with age and not at all detracting, and have been photographed below. A few occasional spots or light age stains, very minor and indeed very occasional, please see photos. All of the wonderful plates are perfect. Typical transferring of deep black inks onto the adjacent porous hand-made paper pages, which is entirely normal for this special 100+year old edition and is noted on every copy of this that we have had the pleasure to view, and on all of the early Constable, Hodder and Stoughton and William Heinemann Limited Signed Editions which we have seen as well, due to the deep black inks used on handmade watercolour type papers.Otherwise, no bookplates or inscriptions or any notable marks whatsoever. A beautiful copy, which would make a spectacular gift. Much of the book has been photographed. Please see photos.

Good luck and enjoy your win!
