Signed Edwardian very tiny locket by George L. Paine Co. (signed GLP Co). The locket has an intricate top cover design of filigree stripes with a central circle (probably for engraving?) hard to see in the photos. Thechamferededge is sculpted and the case body has a unique shape measuring a scant 5/8\" x 5/16\" with a spidery fine 14\" chain with tiny clasp. Everything functions just fine. There is understandably finish wear and scratches on this tiny piece. I wonder if this was jewelry for a child, although I know many women were much smaller back then than they are now. Based on the research of the manufacturer I am fairly certain the locket is at least gold filled, but it has not been tested.
Internet research states that the company was \"founded in 1909 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts and last known in business in 1922. Their products were mostly solid gold, 10k gold front and gold filled jewellery.\"
