Terrific antique folk art cigar box/jewelry box, American, circa 1910s - 1920s, the original cigar box of dovetailed construction, the lid deeply carved in the Arts & Crafts taste with a large diamond-shaped reserve with initials LWM (or LMW) surrounded by scrolls against a punched or stippled background, metal latch with sliding closure, lined with velvet, approx. 8-7/8\" x 7-1/8\" x 2-3/8\". Two hinge screws replaced, otherwise fine, attractive condition, with no breaks or losses, retaining a rich, pleasing, untouched reddish-brown patina.

An exceptionally handsome and beautifully executed example, no doubt made as a gift for a sweetheart or family member.
