De Leon spends most of his time talking about Underwood\'s bonafides as a \"southern man.\" This booklet was apparently published early on in Underwood\'s 1912 campaign for the Democratic Presidential nomination.Underwood would try again in 1924 where his effort to obtain the Democratic Presidential nomination would helptie up the convention through over 100 ballotsand make for the longest presidential political convention in U S history.
