The lutheran priest Jonas Pipiras (1833 - 1912) , church rector in Klaipėda from 1882 till the end of his life, played an important role in the cultural life of Small Lithuania in the second half of XIX century. He wrote a Lithuanian grammar for German people (Lithauische Sprachlehre), prepared four small hymnaries and the sermon collection \"Miβios\", was the editor of \"Nusidawimai apie Ewangelijos Praplatinimų tarp Žydū ir Pagonū\" and other reviews.
