We recently were in a local estatewhere the family had descended from the Oglala Sioux Indian Tribe in SouthDakota Territory. This is one of the items we acquired, and we will gladly combinemultiple items to reduce your shipping costs.

Thisbeaded handmade belt measures 26 inches in length and is 2 ½ inches wide. Thisbelt was made by Minnie Charging-Crow sometime in 1913 or so at the #21 DaySchool which was located on the Pine Ridge Agency in South Dakota. I am notcertain this is a belt, but in any case it is in overall very good conditionwith just a bit of wear and missing beads on the ends. Thebeads are all glass and have been hand stitched onto a thick cotton material.

Theback of the belt has written in old brown ink the provenance for the piece andis 100% authentic, guaranteed. My guess is this was written by Minnie herself,being that the name of the tribe is misspelled, but that is just a guess.

Aquick little research will show Minnie Charging-Crow being born in 1898 on thePine Ridge Agency, and later marrying a Frank Packard. A 1930’s census showsMinnie at age 32 so all the number line up. You will be thrilled with thisauthentic Native American item, guaranteed.
