Massive tome measuring 14 1/2\" x 11 1/2\" and 3\" thick! 280 pages with writing and illustrations on every right hand page; 140 handwritten pages total and well over 250 illustrations of the greatest, paintings, sculptures and architecture of all time! Most pages boasts 2 illustrations per page. The first section 3/4 of the book discuss the history of painting and modern academic painting spanning from the 15th century through the 19th century and discussing the greatest artists and paintings known. Following the history of painting is an extensive illustrated section on the history of sculptures; culminating in a section on the history of architecture!Penned and bound by a one Everil Mae Hassam of the Lady Jane Grey primary school in England! Entirely handwritten in superb period script; bright and vibrant ink! Hand bound with thick cord strings affixed to rigid boards complete with a front panel logo which reads: \"The Lady Jane Grey School - 1880\" in gold gilt as well as the author\'s (then students) name of \"Everil Mae Hassam\". The Lady Jane Grey School is a primary school still in existence today in the United Kingdom. Ms. Hassam looks to have been a student of the school in 1914 and wrote this amazing manuscript as a school project of sorts. Nearly 150 pages containing hundreds of amazing illustrations!My research shows that the Hassam\'s were a prominent Massachusetts family during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Ms. Everil Mae Hassam was most likely a boarding student at The Lady Jane Grey School in the UK for her primary schooling education; returning to the States afterwards. She is listed as a United States resident in the 1940 US Census. In Good overall condition. Boards exhibit moderate wear; front panel shows soiling/discoloring. The binding is strong and tight with most all pages firmly secured. An occasional page has become detached but all remain snug and the book is complete. Some pages exhibit light edge wear; gentle toning; bright and vibrant mounted illustrations; occasional illustration detached but present.
