Charming English sterling silver purse with finger chain. Snaps open to leather fitted interior with 3 compartments for coins or stamps. Hallmarked with “GN” makers initials and marks for sterling silver content, city of Birmingham and date code for 1917. Measures 3.75in x 2.5in x .75 thickness. Weighs 2.20 troy ounces. Condition. Small dents and teething marks (our ancestors used silver and gold articles to sooth their infants teething pain, the cool metal relieving the pain in their gums), leather is split at the bottom of one of the interior pouch compartments.
