1920 EBONY & SILVER GLOVE STRETCHERS ANTIQUE DRESSING TABLE VINTAGE VANITY SET:

DESCRIPTION:

A pair of solid ebony glove stretchers with sterling silver embellishments. The silver has a vacant cartouche with decorative engravings and is hallmarked London 1920, maker H. F. Daltrey and Company. The glove stretchers measure 8.75 inches long and have \'EBONY\' stamped to the side.

This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s, when the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since.

CONDITION:

The silver has a couple of dings but no scratches or missing fixing pins. The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks, they have a very high polish. The spring mechanism is in fine working order.
