Everything you ever wanted to know about the ancient art, history, symbolism and literature of Freemasonry is found in these books. Steeped in mystery and magic these encyclopedias were originally only intended for a mason of the higher degrees.

Albert Gallatin Mackey, author of these fascinating volumes, was an American medical doctor andwriter of numerous books on freemasonry; he was also interested inlanguage study (Greek, Latin & Hebrew), the Middle Ages, symbolism and cabalistic and Talmudic researches. He even maintained a weekly masonic magazine which began in 1849. He was the preeminent historian on freemasonry anda prolific author of the craft. He died in June of 1881.

Originally published in 1873, these books are Mackey\'s definitive and most recognized authority on freemasonry, from all ofthe knowledge he had acquired studying the art and science of it. It was his desire before he died, to see his years of study and hard work brought together, so members of the craft of masonry could benefit from his scholar and knowledge. These books are getting harder and harder to come by.
