This is a wonderful addition to your antique globe collection. It is a 1920\'s (or earlier) era world globe on a heavy wooden stand.
The globe itself says that it is a \"New Peerless 8 Inch Globe, Terrestria, Weber Costello Company Manufacturers, Chicago Heights, ILL.
I cannot figure out why this globe is called an \"8 inch\" globe. The circumference is 25 1/2\", and it is 14\" tall, so I don\'t know where the 8 inches comes in...maybe you do.
It is in excellent vintage condition. There are no dents or scratches. The sealing medium that goes around the equator is chipped in spots...it looks like it is only paper. Also, the globe could use a cleaning. I will not touch it because I do not know what to clean it with, and I do not want to ruin its great old \"patina\".
The wooden stand is sturdy, and the metal degree halo around the globe shows great oxidization.
All in all, this is an interesting old globe. I am selling off my collection now. Thanks for looking.
