Here is a charming andincreasingly hard-to-find antique/vintage aluminum miner\'s lunch box or pail with its original Thermos-brand thermos. Its Art Deco lettering leads me to believe that it is from the late 1920s to late 1930s, but I may be wrong about that. It is beat-up and dented in places and has a worn patina, but that only adds to its primitive charm. This is a very collectible item and would make a fine gift to a modern miner or for display in a bar frequented by miners. The thermos alone has quite a high value in this fine condition.Everything works well, and the thermos is in amazing condition for its age. The lunch boxlocks securely, and opens smoothly. The metal barthat holdsthe thermos in works well and holds the thermos in securely. The leather strap is worn but on securely. On the bottom it says Handy-Andy, Made in the U.S.A.The thermos has a faux leather wrap around it and a glass lining that is clean and in very good condition inside. It has an aluminum top that serves as a cup...it says THERMOS on the cup. Minor dents on the cup. Under thecup is a large neat-lookingcork that is damaged on the top somewhat...it is stamped \"Quart Vacuum.\" On the bottom of the thermos it says Do not soak in water...Made in USA, and it has an L. Please look at the many photos...they are part of the description.
The lunch pail is about 10 1/4\" wide x 6 1/2\" high without the handle x nearly 5\" deep. The thermos is about 10 1/8\" high and 3\" in diameter at the bottom.
