Description

A 1920s 1930s straw sun hat, tennis hat or golf hat featuring a rounded crown with black grosgrain ribbon hat band tied in a bow on the brim, a side and front only brim with black satin ribbon edging, and red and brown ostrich feathers starting with large quills on the front brim and sweeping around the right side of the brim, then spilling over the side. The hat has a beige grosgrain ribbon hatband inside with a tag that says \"size large\". However, the hat fits a size 6 7/8 head and so it would be considered a small to medium by today\'s standards. The back of the hat has no brim. The hat has no major condition issues that I could find. The straw is in strong condition with no holes or breaks, the satin edging on the brim is intact, as is the outside hatband. However, this is a vintage hat that is at least 85 years old and there may be minor signs of age related wear. There are a few minor flaws as follows: there is some minor makeup discoloration on the inside hatband, the red feather tip is broken off but it is under the brown feathers and so you cannot see this. The brown feathers have some minor damage to the ends as shown. There is some minor discoloration on the soft straw brim and crown (shown). None of these minor flaws detract from the beauty of this lovely hat. This hat may have been a 1920s or early 1930s tennis hat or golf hat - when tennis and golf were much more dressy and alot less athletic. The hat is NOT a new reproduction or a cheap imitation - this is an original 1920s or 1930s straw sun hat, tennis hat or golf hat with ostrich feather trim. Jewelry and accessories not included.

But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years. Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget.
