PEARLESCENT GALALITH & ART GLASSAMAZING, ONE-OF-A-KIND Art Deco Necklace!!! I have never seen anything like this!!! This necklace is from the 1920s, and a combination of marbled art glass beads, brass chain, an antique clasp set with marcasites, and the most unique hand carved opalescent plastic figa pendant. I must make an educated guess as to the plastic, since I have never seen plastic such as this (and plastics are one of my specialities). However, the plastic is most likely galalith - French milk protein plastic from the early 1900s. When I say that this is rare plastic, I am not exaggerating! The plastic is carved, not molded. It is most definitely older, with age appropriate wear to the metal. Yet, the color is what makes this Amazing! It is an opalescent, odorless, dense, and shimmering plastic - similar but better than moonglow lucite. An incredibly unique, beautiful piece of antique plastic jewelry!Necklace measures app. 26\" around the neck, and the center drops 2 3/4\". The figa pendant itself is app. 1 3/4\". Excellent antique condition.
