A FASCINATING MASONIC HISTORY

An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry is a brilliant collection of facts, stories and biographies all relating to Freemasonry from Ancient times on. Profusely illustrated with numerous full page color and b&w plates as well as in-text illustrations & drawings, this handsome set reveals the traditions, customs, rites, symbols, ceremonies and degrees of Freemasonry, as well as featuring notable members of the Masonic brotherhood throughout history.

About the Author:

Albert Gallatin Mackey (March 12, 1807 – June 20, 1881) was an American medical doctor, and is best known for his authorship of many books and articles about freemasonry.

The origins of Freemasonry continues to puzzle and mystify historians; some believe the scant evidence that is available points to the origins of Freemasonry as a fraternity that simply evolved out of the lodges of operative stonemasons of the Middle Ages.

This history is generally separated into two time periods: before and after the formation of the Grand Lodge of England in 1717. Before this time, the facts and origins of Freemasonry are not absolutely known and are therefore frequently explained by theories or legends. After the formation of the Grand Lodge of England, the history of Freemasonry is extremely well documented and can be traced through the creation of hundreds of Grand Lodges that spread rapidly worldwide.

An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry is an excellent resource to turn to for any type of Masonic research.
