Steck. Reverend Augusts R. Steck of Carlisle, PA was a renowned leader in the Lutheran Church in Pennsylvania in the early 1900s as was his father before him in Gettysburg and Lancaster, PA.The first sermon is entitled \"The Religious Character of Abraham Lincoln\" and is dated February 15, 1925 (3 days after Lincoln\'s birthday). It contains very interesting and informative unpublished content exploring Lincoln\'s relation to Jesus Christ and the Church. He discusses that Mrs. Lincoln described her husban as having \"Divine Poetry\" and Reverend Steck wholly agrees. 28 pp.The second sermon is entitled \"Reformation Faith in the 20th Century\" and is an address delivered to the Lutheran\'s state forum in Harrisburg, PA on November 3, 1935. The sermon focuses on the absurdity of religious demanding to be \'modernized\' and that God\'s word never changes.In Excellent overall condition. Both sermons entirely handwritten by Steck in rich black ink. Bound with original strings and housed in a handsome black leather slip cover embossed in gold gilt with the reverends name. Leather exterior clean with only light wear, bright and vibrant.
