Description: The Wizard Fortune Teller, Mills Novelty Company, 11/26, metal table top fortune teller with a rotating paper disk that shows the patron's fortune. In the 1910s Mills Novelty made an early floor model spinning fortune teller. Then they made this countertop wood case model, the "Wizard" in the early 1920s. Then they made the final and best model, an aluminum cast front Wizard in 1926 which is for sale here.

You could select one of six questions, such as What will my future wife/husband look like, How can I get rich, etc. You then inserted a penny, pushed the plunger, and your answer was revealed in the open window. The front casting is what gives this game such a great look, with the wizard and his smoking incense pot. And of course, the Mills owl logo on the lower right. A visually attractive arcade machine manufactured by Mills in the 1920s-1930s time period. The earlier version of this machine was simplistic in nature with a wooden front but in order to attract prospective players Mills redesigned the front employing a fanciful, large aluminum cabinet with a wizard, a pedestal with a flaming urn and a bevy of decorative symbols, people, etc.

A card on the front of the machine asks a series of questions and one would choose a question moving the lever about to said question. A coin deposited and the lever on the side engaged magically your answer would appear in the window. The front casting is enameled in various colors to attract potential players and the cabinet itself is constructed of wood with a light finish. The mechanism is simplistic in nature and originally sold with 6 different cards and interior wheels which could be easily changed by the operator/owner.

Machine is completely original and still retains the directions for changing fortune reel on the inside of back door. A great coin-op piece that is highly sought after, especially today when collectors are looking for pieces that are all original with original lock and key
