The Book : Original dark green boards (as originally issued) with gilt lettering on spine & gilt vignette of Christopher Robin & Pooh on front board. Some wear to extremities with a couple of tiny nicks;a few small light marks to boards but none of note.

Internally, ORIGINAL & COMPLETE illustrated map (100 acre wood) endpapers. A small chip to top margin of front endpaper just affectingborder of map.A smallneat old ink name tofront blank with the corner chipped (see illustration).Tiny chip to bottom right corner of titlepage. Tiny 3mm closed tear to foot of p2. A 4mm closed tear to top margin of p107. Page 145 appears to have been loose at one time and has some marginalisation to right hand edge with an inch closed tear to leading edge and is now tipped back in (appears may have been previously taped in with the odd tape residue at gutter margin of p146/7. Small chip to top right corner of rear illustrated map endpaper. Endpapers original and unsplit. A number of handling marks throughout text. No childish scribbling or colouring.

An original copy of the true First Edition, First Impression of Milne’s Classic childrens work. This is the first book devoted to Pooh and as such was his real introduction. This is not the finest copy but is cheap alternative to a very good-fine copy which can cost up to £600.
