1928 National Novelty Knock Out KOFighters 2-Player Animated Manikin Boxing Arcade Machine:

If you’re looking for a seldom seen arcademachine from the 1920’s (YES, nineteen twenty’s, this machine is 9-0 yearsold,) make sure you keep reading! Here is another nice, collectiblearcade machine. No coin-op, arcade, or sports collection can be completewithout amanikin arcade boxing machine, and National Novelty’s KOFighters is a fantastic choice if you onlywant one! Consideringthis machine was manufactured NINETY years ago, it putsintoperspective the era that this machine originally came from. Thestar attraction of this machine is the ANIMATED BOXING MATCH that takesplace within the “ring” under a lighted metal dome, with clear glass on thefront three sides surrounding the ring. Once a punch connects with theother boxer’s chin, he falls to the canvas. REALLY! How cool isthat?! Absolutely outstanding features on a machine that is 90 yearsold. Not only does it feature a fantastic \"look\" in thecabinet styling, but it also offers animated manikin boxers in action, with you controlling the movement of the boxer and when and where he takes aswing! The real-action boxing ring animation is the reason this machineis so coveted by anyone who loves older arcade machines, has a pinball orarcade collection, loves boxing related memorabilia, or just loves to play aCOOL machine! You can move your boxer forward and back, left and right, and take swings with both the right and left arm. Way cool… Butkeep in mind, as you are doing that, your opponent is also lining you up totake a shot at you to put you on the mat! This continues until one of thetwo of you gets knocked out! There are no timers involved, no timelimit. The game ends with a knockout. Here is your chance to have realisticboxing action in the form of an arcade machine from the 1920\'s, right inyour gameroom! And maybe best of all, it allows two people tocompete against each other! If you are a sports-nut, boxing fanatic,or just truly appreciate the artistic and mechanical features of anarcademachine from this era, you can\'t do much better than NationalNovelty’s KO Fighters. But I left the best for last, it is workingGREAT! Get it home, plug it in, and PLAY!

This machine is COMPLETELY mechanical! The only electrical aspect is the dome light that plugs in to shine down on thering. All manikin movements are mechanical. Although this machineis technically mechanically unshopped by me, it is working GREAT! Whenyou insert a nickel into the top of the gun control mechanism of the downedfighter, you push forward on the two knobs on each side of the gun to raise thefighter upright and start to fight! All movement features are workingcorrectly, push the boxer forward or pull him back, move him left or right, andswing each of his two arms. All are working GREAT! This is a FUNmachine to play and will be seeing endless action in your gameroom.

The original metal top cover dome is in placeand is in nice shape. The original top instruction card marquee is inplace, in a replacement frame. It is attached to the top dome as itoriginally was, and looks FANTASTIC! It’s amazing the different look thatthis machine projects with that original framed instruction card in place asopposed to when it is missing. All three clear glass panels are in placesurrounding the ring with no cracks/breaks in the glasses. All four ringcorner posts are in place as are the three ropes between all four to give itthat “boxing” feel. The wood back door behind the rink has graphics inplace of boxers and the name of the machine. I’m not sure if this paneland graphics are original but they seem to be machine produced, not handpainted. Whatever the determination, they look pretty nice and definitelyadd to the appeal of the machine and the way it looks. The two originalmanikin boxers are also in place. The paint on the manikins is startingto chip off but they still present themselves pretty well. The boxerstrunks, shoes, and hair are all in better shape! As simple as their paintjobs are, though, these would be VERY easy to repaint, if you wanted. Inthe meantime, they certainly won’t embarrass you! No disappointments withany of these components, they all look nice.

As described, the game-play is all about ananimated boxing match! Insert your nickel (and only in the boxer that hasalready been knocked out from the previous game,) push the two pins on thesides of the gun control to lift the boxer up, and then start boxing your opponent. If you notice, there are no score reels or light bulb scoring to keep track ofthe score! So remember that you have to keep track of your ownscore! After each knockout, you need to insert another nickel to raisethe downed manikin. As described, during the game, you FULLY control yourboxer by means of your controller. Forward/reverse, left/right, and leftand right swings of the arms. If you catch your opponent on the chin, down to the canvas he goes! How cool is that! Fast and furiousanimated boxing action in your home! This is a LOT of fun to play andprovides fantastic competition for two players. Remember, there ison timer on this machine, once you insert your nickel, you continue to fightuntil one of the boxers goes down, however long that takes! This isDEFINITELY a COOL machine to play and does require some skill and timing toknock down your opponent, making it LOTS of fun to play!

The cabinet appears to have beenrepainted. It is starting to show its age with noticeably chipping/flakingpaint throughout, but in the end, it still presents itself fairly well.If you wanted to do a full restoration on this machine, compared to many othermachines, it shouldn’t be a huge undertaking. In the meantime, althoughobviously not perfect now, it still presents itself nicely. Both of theoriginal manikin boxer controls are in place. The plating has started towear on the hand controls, but these would be easy to re-plate, if youwanted. The roof, cabinet corners, and small area below the ring sideglasses are metal. The original stand and support truss below the ringare cast iron. When you insert a nickel, it falls throughthe gun control, into the truss support, and into the hollow center of the baseupright where it falls to the bottom of the base. On the backside of theupright, there is a panel that can be locked and then removed for access toremove the nickels. This original cover plate is still with the machine, but it is not attached at this time and is missing a lock/key. When thewood back door is removed, it allows access to the mechanicals that are underthe ring. This machine stands 5’-4.5” tall (6’-2” to the top of theinstruction marquee,), 1’-8.25” deep, and 3’-5.5” wide (to the outsides of thecontrols.)

Payment for the machine is to bereceived within seven days of the end of the sale.Credit cards are accepted through Paypal. Provided it is paid for at theend of the sale, I can hold the machine for as long as you need so you canmake arrangements to either pick it up or have it shipped. If you need shipping, I wouldrecommend you contact Michelle Bianchi, Beltmann Agent,at michelle.bianchi at beltmann.com,[phone removed by ] (toll free [phone removed by ]) for a quote. Available shippingoptions include door to door service including all of the loading, unloading,blanket-wrapping, shrink-wrapping, etc. When shipping multiplemachines, the \"per machine\" cost is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, so makesure you look at my other sales and/or ask me what other machines I haveavailable right now! In rough numbers it generally costs about$350-375 in total to ship a single machine to the east coast from here andabout $400-425 to the west coast. I have also worked with a few othershipping companies and can help steer you in the right direction. Mypreference is to work with a company that provides door to door service whichhandles all of the wrapping, loading, and hauling. Although I am not ableto crate or palletize the machine myself, I can help to arrange for outsidecrating and international shipping, with you paying all of the associatedcosts.

This machine can be taken as far as you wantin a TOTAL cosmetic restoration. BUT, the GREAT news is that you don\'thave to if you don\'t want to! It\'s current cosmetic condition certainlyallows it to be placed in your home when you consider it is 90 yearsold! Cut it some slack for that fact! If you\'re handy atall, and are willing to put in a little time to finish-off this machine, youcan also SAVE THOUSANDS DOLLARS in the process rather than buying a fullyrestored machine!Maybe that is some added incentive foryou! This machine has the ability to become the STAR attraction of anycollection or gameroom. Even without playing it, I enjoy its lighted\"look\" sitting in a darkened room, but admittedly, I\'m a littlewarped! In the case of this machine, though, you don\'t have to stopthere. Not only can you enjoy looking at it, but as soon as you get ithome, you can start to PLAY it like it was intended! PLUG &PLAY! It doesn’t get any easier or any better than that. Youcan REALLY show it off to everyone! The animated boxing match isunmatched and is sureto keep players coming back to enjoy it.With the players positioned on each end of the machine, it also lends itselfVERY well to others who want to watch the match in front, without anyobstructions, and without interfering with the player’s view. Thatisn’t the case with most arcade machines. This is literally a piece ofAmericana! 1920\'s styling, animated manikins, authenticboxing action, and its “look” arealladjectives thatcombine tomake a perfect combination to assure that you\'ll be happy to have this machinein your collection for years to come. Especially since it allowstwo-players to compete against each other!Don\'t miss out on anice opportunity to a add a truly CLASSIC arcade machine to your collection.
