Here is a vivid map of Portland and some surrounding localities that was designed to be attractive to children and to be used in education. It is 75cm X 95cm (29 1/2\" X 37\"), bold colors lithographed on white paper. It creates a positive image of Portland for kids and provides them with some essential history and basic geography. I could find copies of the Map in The Historical Society and The Osher Map Library. The Osher Map Library Smith Center for Cartographic Education has a webpage describing the use of old maps in K-12 education. The Center chose to highlight this map as emblematic of good maps for educational settings. You can view this page at

I found this copy in an Antiquarian book dealer\'s attic. It is a scarce map. I have no more copies.
