1929 Jewish German Berlin rowing clubHelvetia statue trophy award of Art Deco style for young man. Partof the Jewishsport movement, the rowing club Helvetia wasa Jewish rowing sport club in Berlin (Germany) prier to WWII. The Rise of theNazis to power and the fear of them led members of this club to flee fromGermany to Palestine (Today Israel) and they donated their boat, the BRC, whichmentioned in this award prior to their escape. After arriving to Palestine, Membersof this club imported the sport of rowing to British Mandated Palestine andfounded the first rowing clubs in the holy land, one in Haifa and the other inTel Aviv. The Jewish museum of Berlin has three items in its collection of thisclub, see HERE. Two are Flags of the club. One isdated by the museum to be from around 1937 and 1938 and the other from 1934 asthe third item which is a metal plaque on wood with similar caption to thestatue of this sale, dated 1934. No statue trophy award of the club (Or anyitems of this sport club outside the museum items) has ever come up for sell todate (I couldn\'t find similar items at any important sales worldwide). The trophystatue award offered for sale here is dated 1929 and most likely the only trophyaward of this club that survived the Holocaust to be known. The sculpture made ofBronze, in Art Deco style, with marble base and around 22.5 cm high from top tobottom, weight around 585 gr\', in good condition with minimal wear and withsmall damage to the marble base, which is hollow. Important and historical toJewish sport history and history of the German Jews prior to the holocaust.
