1930s Gottlieb Atlas Grip Strength Tester Penny Arcade Trade Stimulator Antique :
$1100.00

Today I have for sale this 1920s-1930s strength/grip tester. During this time, both Gottlieb and Atlas made very similar grip testers. This grip tester, with its beautiful cast iron curved top and cast iron base, is enormously more scarce than the later grip testers you commonly see from Mercury and other manufacturers. These almost never come up for sale. This grip tester has had a high quality restoration:
  • It has been completely disassembled and the mechanical parts have been sent to an expert for professional tuning and are in perfect working condition
  • The grips and coin head have been professionally nickel-plated with the correct watts nickel
  • The body of the tester, including top, bottom, back, and sides, have all been professionally powder coated for a very durable finish (much better than paint). Even the external screws have been powder coated.
  • High quality, fade resistant decals have been applied. These are very faithful reproductions of the originals and are no longer available.
  • A new back door was fabricated and fitted with a vintage-correct corbin lock that is in perfect working order (look at those keys!)

After inserting a coin, the grips are squeezed, and the needle raises. There is a listing on the machine for age and gender \"WHAT YOUR GRIP SHOULD TEST\". If the user gets a high enough score, a large gong inside the tester dings loudly. The coins are collected in the machine (there is a plastic container to catch them).

I have included many high-resolution pics of the tester. Please look at them carefully, they represent the condition of the tester. Also, please see my video of the operation of the grip tester below. This shows the operation of the tester.I saw a machine like this on Pawn Stars recently. A very rough machine was bought for $600 and restored. At the end of the episode, I believe it was assessed at $2000 or more. Given the restoration steps above, I believe this one is in as good or better condition as the one in that episode. This is heavy and is going to be expensive to ship. It will be packed very securely and insured. I expect the actual shipping to be substantially more than the $50 I have listed. If for any reason it is less, I will refund the difference to you.The marble stand in the pics is not included! If you are local to me, you are welcome to come and look at the grip tester.See my response and offer with confidence.
