1932 Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Campaign Figural Lamp For Sale

This outstanding, FDR Campaign Lamp measures approx. 15 1/4” tall overall and 7" by 3" at the base. The Lamp is titled "The Man of the Hour" and features a full figure of Franklin D. Roosevelt grasping a Ship's Wheel and apparently piloting the "Ship of State". The Ship's Wheel is surmounted by a mount for a cased glass, globe shaped shade and the Lamp retains what appears to be its original shade - a wonderful spatter glass, cased globe with multi-color outer surface and milk glass cased inner surface.

This is actually the original 1932 FDR Presidential Campaign Piece which was later modified (in 1933) to contain an Anti-Prohibition, mechanical face clock which was issued in support of the passage of the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which repealed the 18th Amendment that prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States. The Clock's design patent was filed on October 21, 1933 and the patent was issued on December 5th, 1933 - amazingly the same day that the 21st Amendment was formally ratified repealing Prohibition!!! This Lamp, however pre-dates the Clock is MUCH rarer!!

This wonderful, FDR Presidential Campaign Figural Lamp is made of a heavy, cast white metal with a beautiful, bronzed finish. It is in excellent condition and in excellent, working order. The electric cord appears replaced but is well preserved and the Lamp lights beautifully giving a rich and warm glow.

This rare and quite wonderful, 1932 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bronzed Figural Cast Metal Presidential Campaign Lamp is in excellent condition. There are no crack, breaks, chips, repairs or physical damage to the cast metal. The bronzed surface is 100% original and is exceptionally well preserved with no surface loss or wear and a rich, warm age patina. The Lamp is in excellent, working condition and all of the wiring is well preserved and safe to use.
