1936 Parker Marbled Emerald Pearl Vacumatic Deb 14K Gold \'MF\' Nib; Restored!
Description

This Marbled EmeraldPearl Vacumatic Debutantehas been fully restored - a new Vac sac/diaphragm (and tested), and thoroughly cleaned and polished. The components on this pen are Vintage, and are in very good condition. The Lockdown filling unit actually looks new.The barrel imprint is nice and crisp with a \'46\' date code, so 4thquarterof 1936. Parkerstopped making Vacumatics in 1948 in the U.S.A.and 1953 in Canada. The Emerald or GreenMarbled color was introduced in 1934, and was discontinued in 1938. It also came in Burgundy, and Grey.

This 1936Vac has a beautiful and proper Parker Arrow 14K Solid Gold nib. I knocked the nib and feed out of the section to clean thecomponents. Thenibhas a \'47\' date code, so 4th quarter of 1947. I\'d judge thisnib to be about a\'MF\' point with a touch of flex. It glides over the paper very smoothly as well. With the naked eye, thisnib looks fantastic - spotless. With a 10X loupe I can see a few micro scratches but not many at all.Parker nibs are very high quality and this one is right up there.

The clipis Nickel platedand is a bit loose. The gold-filled cap bands arenice and tight on the cap and I don\'t see any brassing. As the cap bands are gold filled, this might be a replacement clip.

The capjewelisin excellent condition - no visible chips or bad scratches except for one area on the very edge. The blind capjewel is missing. The cap, barrel and blind cap all look very good - no visible chips, bite marks, bad scratches, etc.just a bit of color shift of the barrel colors - quite common with a pen this old made out of this material. The marbled barrel has very good barrel transparency. So, not bad at all for a pen that is just shy of 80years old!

Parker made the Vacumatic in many sizes, both length and girth - typically the most common were the Debutante (smallest), Standard, Major, and Over-sized (later changed to Maxima), and they also made Slim Maximas, and Juniors - and a few others as well. This one is the Debutantesize and measures just over 4 5/8inches capped, and about 5 7/8inches with the cap posted.

I\'ve included a writing sample using this pen. I tested the pen with water to assure it filled properly and I dipped the pen to create the writing sample (BTW, I said Parker Challenger in the writing sample, but this pen actually is a Parker Vacumatic - see barrel imprint photos). As I mentioned earlier, it lays down about a\'MF\' line, is a very smooth writer with atouch of flex.

BTW, if you are relatively new to the Parker Vacumatic filling system (used in Parker 51\'s, Vacumatics, later model Duofolds, etc.) for maximum fill, depress the filling plunger about 8 - 10 times, with just a brief pause between plunges. This will assure a maximum fill. Parker marketing claimed that the revolutionary Vacumatic filling system would hold 103% more than its competitors filling system - quite an improvement.

If you are looking for a daily \'MF\' writer or a beautiful Vac to add to your collection, then this is a very good GreenMarbledVacumatic Debutantefor you to consider. An excellent pen with a very nice sheen and nib! This is a very good looking vintage Parker Vac.
