This is an original press photo. League of United Latin American CitizensFrom its humble beginnings in South Texas in 1929, LULAC\'s Numbers and influence grew steadily until it emerged as the nation\'s premier Hispanic civil rights organization. Members gathered in Houston in June 1937, Top photo, for the organizations ninth annual convention. By the 1950s, LULAC leaders were rubbing elbows with the powerful: Gov. Price Daniel, at right in left photo, joined passed LULAC National president John J. Herrera of Houston in placing a wreath bearing LULAC\'s name at the San Jacinto Monument. With them was Herrera\'s daughter, Joyce, 12. In bottom photo, President John F. Kennedy and Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson greet Houston LULAC members in the Crystal ballroom of the Rice Hotel I November 21, 1963 - the night before Kennedy\'s assassination in Dallas. Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 06-05-1937.
