Up for sale is truly the Holy Grail for Disney, doll, or early marionette collectors and investors. This is a complete set of eight 1938 original Madame Alexander marionettes, each complete w/ controller unit and strings. Marionettes come with six 6.75x24x2.25" deep original illustrated boxes w/ Alexander Doll Co. name on box ends and each has stamped the character name on it. Boxes for Grumpy, Bashful, Sneezy (2), Sleepy and Happy are included along with 8x14x5x3" deep original box with label notes that box contains 12" tall "Snow White marionette.Marionettes stand between 8.5" and 11.5" tall. Snow White box has original cardboard insert. All boxes show obvious wear, w/ missing inner or end flaps, aging and pinch creases and tears. Boxes are VG in condition but nearly impossible to find!Also comes with "Walt Disney's Marionette Plays" script book which shows aging and wear to spine. Overall VG.Marionettes are superbly detailed and designed with nice quality outfits (Dwarfs also have simulated leather belts and metal buckles) and composition heads and feet. Scattered crazing to some hands but overall condition of marionettes are VF/Exc.Consensus between several dealers and sale houses is that only a few sets with boxes have surfaced on the market over last several decades. Now is the chance. Estimated value is $3,000-$5,000. Reserve is very modest, but there to protect the investment.Truly a unique treasure that you will likely never see again.
