1939 Crinkle Rare WWII 221 Wrinkle Godzilla Singer Sewing Machine Featherweight:
$5400.00

Extremely Collectible Representing an Important Period in the History of War-time Manufacturing. Rarest of Rare Singer Featherweight Sewing Machines!

This is quite possibly the Most Rare Featherweight 221 Machine Ever Produced!

Sewing as good as New… New was 79 Years Ago! Fully Cleaned, Serviced and Sewing a Beautiful Stitch. Quiet, Smooth and Perfect Speed Regulation!

A True Classic, Complete 1939 Crinkle Featherweight 221,Serial Number AF387771. Produced Just Before or at the very Beginning of World War II All make this Quite Possibly the Most Historically Relevant of All Featherweights!

Note the Revision Date on the cover of the manual is October 1938, “Rev Date 1038”

I believe this machine system to be 100% Original to THIS Machine. The only exceptions being the standard “consumable items” such as felt pads, belt, and needle.

It is estimated as few as 200 Wrinkle / Crinkle / Godzilla FacePlate Featherweights were Ever Available for Retail Sale. Due to Singer\'s extremely poor serial number record keeping and badge allocation practices, it is impossible to find an exact number. I know their badge allocation did not lead to sequential production. Many / most of the machines in this same badge allocation were not crinkle finish machines.

After 79 Years, This particular, pre-World War II, 1939 Crinkle Finish Black Featherweight is in remarkably Grand Condition. Please review pictures carefully as Antique Condition can be subjective. Photos are the actual Items You Will Receive and represent the complete condition. Please request specific photos if you have questions. All items are smoke and odor-free.

From our Personal Collection, it was acquired from the Original Owner. The “Brightest Star” in Her Collection, It is sure to be a Highlight in Your Collection too! It appears to have seen very minimal use and was obviously Very Well Cared For.

It has just been Inspected, Serviced and Tested to Include:

  • Completely Cleaned with Kerosene internally to remove old oil “varnish” and grease.
  • Removed FacePlate, Spool Pin, Bottom Drip Pan, Feed-Dogs, Hand Wheel & Hook Assembly to Thoroughly Clean & Lubricate
  • Completely Oiled and Greased top to bottom
  • Wiring Inspected, Machine, Light Switch & Controller Wiring
  • Light is Fully Functional with original style Incandescent Bulb
  • New Schmetz Needle, Belt, Felt Drip Pad, New Felt Red Spool Pad & Black Felt on Drip Pan Stud

System Includes Original Items As Pictured:

Six Standard Accessory Feet, Singer Box, Bakelite Foot Pedal Controller, Screwdriver Pair, Machine Brush, Bent Lead Top Singer Oil Can (empty), Singer Lubricant Tube with Singer Lube Box, Original Case with Oil Can Clip & Full Case Tray.

The Rich Wrinkle Textured Finish Shows No Chipping and No Repairs. The only “imperfections”, and the may actually be original, can be seen in the last photo. There is a VERY small “dot” on the table, possibly from the faceplate thumbscrew? However, it is NOT a chip. There is a 3/8 inch place just to the left of the needle plate as you face the machine. Both of these areas were present during ALL of the photos. As you can tell, they are barely noticeable… Even with magnification! I chose to show them because this is a significant investment and “we” ALL need to be extremely pleased when it arrives at Your Home.

The case has a few dings and dents, but is sturdy and very serviceable. The Original Handle has been covered to maintain it and prevent further wear or damage. The case has scarring expected with the age but remains fully functional. The left latch is a bit stiff but latches tightly with no visible damage. This Handsome Case has done a terrific job protecting this amazing machine for the last 79 Years!
