1939 Walt Disney Hyperion Studio Letter WARD KIMBALL Toonerville Trolley toy ref Product Description

\"SATURDAY\'S TOYS Presents...\" an historic letter addressed to the former home of the Walt Disney Studio at 2719 Hyperion Avenue.

Addressed to Disney Legend, animator and Imagineer... and included among Walt\'s fabled \"Nine Old Men\"... WARD KIMBALL was sent two tickets to \"The Blackguard\" by promoter L.B. Hallowell (1914 - 2011; aka Lyman Bliss Hallowell... aka \"Bliss\").

The letter on Hallowell\'s 7.25\" x 10 7/8\" stationery is addressed from 934 West 36th Street in Los Angeles (now part of the campus of USC; the street renamed as \"Childs Way\").

The letter references an article featuring Betty and Ward Kimball and their private railroad that had appeared in the February 20, 1939 edition of the Los Angeles Times... The writer mentions \"the Toonerville Trolley days on the streets of Ventura\" California.

He also indicates that he had difficulty gaining Kimball\'s contact information from the Disney Studio.

He attaches two tickets to \"The Blackguard\" (the same play referenced when Lucille Ball and her mother Desiree Ball testified before the House committee on Un-American Activities in 1953). One of the actors in the melodrama, Herb Harris, had attended a Communist party membership meeting in the Ball family home (Ogden Street) in the late 1930\'s. Lucy had agreed to \"host\" the meeting in deference to her grandfather, Fred Hunt.

Lots of history hidden between the lines in a unique one-of-a-kind letter to one of Disney\'s most imaginative and creative forces, Ward Kimball.

Includes original Certificate of Authenticity with Grizzly Flatts Railroad artwork... as provided by the family of Ward Kimball.
