1940 Daval Jiffy Coin-operated Counter-top Trade Stimulator * Penny In Slot:
The year may be drawing to a close, but the show is not yet over, folks. I've got more great listings this week -- mechanical antiques, technological antiques, musical antiques, things you never even knew existed but will now find yourself inexorably drawn toward....check them all out. You won't be disappointed. All sales end Sunday night, December 16th, and all items will be pre-packed and ready for Fedex ground shipment on December 17th (for items won by buyers in the USA). If you're in the USA and looking for a pre-Christmas delivery, odds are goodbut not guaranteedthat the package will arrive on timeif it's paid for on the night the sale ends. West coast buyers are playing it kind of tight. I live on the east coast, and coast-to-coast Fedex shipments can sometimes take as long as 6 business days. With that in mind....
Here's a 75-year-old, working Daval Jiffy countertop trade stimulator, a penny-operated gambling apparatus that's built like Fort Knox and features three revolving wheels of cigarette brands that, when lined up according to the chart on top, correspond with a payout, to be disbursed by the clerk or cashier. The machine appears to be original throughout and comes with its original coin box key and its original payout card. Also included are several dozen gumballs of recent vintage. The wheels are in good shape, and they spin when the arm is pulled. As you can see, there's some wear to their paper litho on the wheels (mostly on the center wheel), but for the most part, all the brands are legible.
Works but with quirks, which is to say that sometimes you have to pull the arm more than once to get the wheels to spin. Also, the slug detector occasionally rejects good coins. Still, the machine seems to be in decent mechanical shape, though I suspect that someone with some knowledge of how to service it (I don't have any) could get it to operate more reliably.
