Description:

You probably have seen this pattern before... it\'s the classic Hibiscus done first in the 40s and redone every decade since! In fact, you can find it this season in new knockoffs.However, you don\'t see it in long sleeve very often. Considered an evening dress Hawaiian shirt, this would be the perfect garment to wear down to the Royal Hawaiian at Waikiki, in the evening...Rare and hard to find.

Tastefully muted colors in the sense they are not bold and in your face, of hibiscus. A solid arrangement, super soft rayon.

Some stains below pockets and bottom button and one on the back with 3 little holes, as if our ancient friend was leaning against a tree in the shade. Very cool shirt, fabulous long collar!

We too get the sensation of wearing an old and very sought after Vintage Rayon Aloha Hawaiian Shirt. The wind whips as you cross the street to your favorite cafe, the people watch you walk in and can\'t stop admiring your shirt. Something feels just right, doesn\'t it? Add a big collar to the cool rayon feel, or a long sleeve cotton rarity, and the same feeling occurs. We all have stories of our love for the shirts and the memories they represent OR CREATE!

That\'s why, not long ago, in the Pacific Northwest, a friend and I met one summer dayata park bench near the sea to discuss a large private collection of Aloha Shirts. Heexplained the stock was very specialand the time to tell the stories has arrived once again.

He shared the story ofthe origins of the Tahitian Shirts, the early culture that attracted folks to visit the Hawaiian Islands and that manytossed their return fares away to become a part of the fabric that is now in the history books today. That history shows the eventual Aloha Shirt capturing and representingthis lureto the islands and the carefree lifestyle there. This fascinated me too, soI agreed to take on this project and began one by one carefully looking over each shirt and sharing them with you.

This collection will be published onlineuntil all the stories are told, or retold serving as a canvas in my personal quest to learn more.
