1941 Singer 221-1 Featherweight Sewing Machine with Case:

The Model # AF749499 indicates January 7, 1941 issue date. The accompanying manual has a handwritten note stating “1938 Singer Featherweight All Original” located on the opening page.

The 221/221K machines were introduced in 1933 and went through 4 variations until end of production in 1960s. All were decorated with a gold decal and Singer name on the lamp housing.

The early models of the 221/221K had an “Egyptian Scrollwork “ pattern on the faceplate (such as this one) , while those produced later had a simpler striated pattern of vertical shapes.

The pictures offer an excellent assessment of condition. Take notice of the gold leaf design with very little wear- great display condition.

The power cord is original and in working condition;however, there is fraying at the connection points. See picture.

The carrying case shows its age, especially the handle. Not sure, but believe there was a tray for attachments which is not available.
