You are offerding an original old snapshot showing a US AirForce service man, possibly a pilot, at the back wing of a US P-40 E-1 fighteraircraft, airplane, # 20. The writing on the back of the snapshot gives thelocation as Karachi, India and the date of 7/42, obviously July, 1942 andidentifies the man as Browning. This is another of a number ofphotos/snapshots which were acquired at a local estate sale in OKC. Theman was a veteran of World War II and was stationed in China and Burma in the1940s, and, according to what he told his neighbor, whenever an airplane cameinto their base, he would take a picture of it. The box in which they orit, were found says Photos, India, China, & Burma, 1942-45. Itmeasures approx. 3 1/4” x 2 3/8”. Although the image is a little itis probably in about very good condition with a little wear at the corners, alight diagonal bend or crease in the top half of the snapshot, about 1 1/2”long, a light semi-circular crease in the top right quarter, a small lightbump, nick and/or crease at the tips of the corners, a little wear along theedges, some roughness along the borders where the gloss was not applied evenly,a little spotting or darkening along the borders and other light wear. Thesnapshot does not lay flat. There is darkening, foxing, spotting and/orcloudiness on the back of the snapshot including some darker spots orfingerprints including a light red fingerprint.
