1945 Sheaffer Triumph Tuckaway Black Wide Gold Band Fountain Pen & Pencil Set
Very Good to Excellent condition. Has the usual age related scratches but no cracks or teeth marks. There is one tiny ding on the wide band. Original Guarantee paperwork from 1945 is included.
Pen has not been tested with ink, however the point is smooth when I tried to “dry write”. Pencil has lead, and goes in-out as designed.
Note that this is the earliest design that DOES NOT have the lead “shield” extension…much more rare and hard to find!
The fountain pen measures approx. 5.125\" long when cap isbarreled(4.375\" without cap) Lifetime dot on cap of pen and “Lifetime”14k gold point.
Sheaffer announced the Tuckaway in 1940andin 1942, with the introduction of the revolutionary “TRIUMPH” point, Sheafferredesigned the Tuckaway completely as part of the“TRIUMPH”line.Theonly Tuckaway trademark feature that remained was the lack of a clip.The“TRIUMPH”Tuckaway Lifetime Feathertouch made itsdebut with a celluloid cap colored to match the barrel and decorated with theenormously broadened band that is almost synonymous with Sheaffer’s wartimeproduction.The first “TRIUMPH”-point version lasted roughly through theSecond World War before Sheaffer once again revised the pen’s design. The mostobvious change is that the Tuckaway acquired its tiny clasp.
