Originally published in 1877, Saint Julien ispart of his Three Tales trilogy that also includes CœurSimple and Hérodias.Written by Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880) the eminent French novelist known for his preoccupation with style and for promoting literary realism.In 1888 Camille Erlanger adapted Saint Julien into a dramatic musical with fiveacts.
A French artist and illustrator, Louis Bouquet (1885-1952) was known for painting biblical, literary, and allegoricalscenes. He created many murals that can still be seen in Paris and illustrated books.
CONDITION
In a paper binding with a paper bound slipcase. Externally, smart with light handling marks and light edgwear. Slipcase, with light handling marks and light edgewear. Internally, in excellent condition. Pages bright and clean. Slight discolouration to the Suites des bois gravés.Overall: NEARFINE in a NEAR FINE slipcase.
