1950\'S VINTAGE AMERICAN BISQUE \"DON\'T FORGET\" BLACKBOARD SADDLE COOKIE JAR:
$47.99

This sale is for a 1950\'s vintage American Bisque Blackboard Series \"Don\'t Forget\" Saddle Cookie Jar. It is in the shape of a saddle on a stand. It has blackboard paint on one side and also a magnet. The colors are bright and glossy and it is in great condition, no chips. There is what appears to be a factory defect on the inside edge of the lid that looks like a crack but it doesn\'t go all the way through. Tried to picture that. There is also some paint loss on the blackboard paint. The cookie jar has some crazing. More noticeable inside white than outside paint. Pictured the worse spot and it is under the lid. It is approximately 12\" tall and 7 1/2\" x 7 1/2\". It is marked \"USA\" on the side and \"Patent Pending U.S.A.\" on the bottom. It also has \"3\" impressed on inside lid.

\"American Bisque started in Williamstown, WV in 1919. Their cookie jars are recognizable as primarily cartoon characters and colorful jars. It is usually difficult to identify American Bisque cookie jars because most of their jars were marked skimpy \"USA\" or with a number. Some jars were affixed with paper labels while still others contained an abbreviation of American Bisque Company-\"A.B. Co.\" The most popular way of identifying American Bisque cookie jars is by their large and unique wedge shaped bottoms. American Bisque are second to McCoy Pottery in terms of the number of jars produced.
