This wind up knitting bear was made in West Germany by Max Carlprobably in the mid 1950’s. This knitting bear has a unique chair which I have never seen before.The chair has open sides and has Tin wheels and corner braces. Usually thechair has closed sides and is all plastic including the wheels on the bottom. Thebear’s mechanism works well and real smooth. The condition of the toy is Nr.Mint/Mint. Upon winding, she starts knitting with her metal knitting needlesand her head will rise and lower. A very nice action. She is sitting in a chairand measures approx. 6 ½” tall.
The box included I don’t believe goes with this toy.When I bought this toy years ago it came with it so I am keeping it that way. Itmay have even been purchased that way originally from the store. The box is anoriginal Max Carl box. It has the \"monkey head logo\" showing MCOriginal with a monkey head. It is stamped #520 on the box which I think is thenumber for a cat with a ball. The toy fits in the box nicely. The box showssome storage wear. Free Priority Mail shipping U.S. 48
