1950's Art Publishers Cincinnati Oh Cardboard Print Montmartre Maurice Utrillo:
For sale is a 1950's cardboard art print manufactured by Art Publishers in Cincinnati, Ohio. This one was a repro of a painting by French artist Maurice Utrillo. It's a street scene in Montmartre. A small portion of the bottom and top of the picture was not included by the manufacturers. I guess they were working for aparticular size. This company made many copies of famous paintings (and some not so famous) and it was a big decorating thing at the time. They also did jigsaw puzzles of paintings.
This print hung in my mother's house for about 50 years. It is a bit darker than the photo shows. The light box gave it more brightness. It comes with the frame and I think it was probably sold that way. There is no glass over the picture and it has a textured finish to make it resemble oil strokes. But please keep in mind that this is a cardboard print, evocative ofthat time period, circa 1950's, 1960's. The framed piece measures 9 x 21. There are a few small spots in the cardboard but overall, it's in very good condition, though a bit dark.
