1950's Jewel Madam-x Fortune Teller Penny Coin Op Napkin Holder Chrome *rare* For Sale
FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION, I AM OFFERING A VERY RARE AND DESIRABLE 1950'S COIN OP NAPKIN DISPENSER. MANUFACTURED BY THE F.E. ERICKSON CO. INC. OUT OF CALIFORNIA. MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL AND CHROME. THIS EXAMPLE IS THE JEWEL "MADAM X FOURTUNE TELLER". FOR ONE CENT THE MACHINE WILL DISPENSE A SLIP OF PAPER PRINTED WITHA FOURTUNE(SEE EXAMPLE IN LAST TWO PICTURES) THESE NEAT LITTLE MACHINES WERE A GREAT WAY FOR DINER AND CAFE OWNERS TO OFF SET THE COST ON NAPKINS!
NOW FOR THE CONDITION ISSUES...THIS IS A USED UNIT THAT HAS PITTING MARKS AND CHROME LOSSTHROUGHOUT. THE LOCK WORKS GREAT AND TURNS EASILY. THE KEY IS MISSING HOWEVER THE LOCK CAN BEOPENED WITH A SMALL SCREWDRIVER. THE INTERIOR MECH LOOKS COMPLETE AND THE MACHINE ISFILLED WITH THE ORIGINAL FORTUNE CARDS. I DO HAVE ONE CARD PICTURED AS AN EXAMPLE. THE LEVER MOVES FREELY UP AND DOWN AND IS ATTACHED TO AN INTERIOR SPRING. THE NAPKIN DOOR SPRINGS ARE TIGHT ON BOTH SIDES ANDTHE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE AS THEY SHOULD. ONE SMALL BOLT THAT HOLDS THE NAPKIN HOLDERS TO THE MACHINE IS MISSING ON EACH SIDE HOWEVER THEY CAN BE EASILY REPLACED. THE TWO METAL ARMS ON THE BACK ARE INTACT AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN USED TO HOLD A MENU. THE FOUR RUBBER PADS ON THE BOTTOM ARE ORIGINAL AND INTACT. THERE ARE NO DENTS OR MAJOR SCRATCHES ON THE CHROME HOWEVER THE PITTING IS SUBSTANTIAL. I PLACED A PENNY INSIDE AND IT GOES THROUGH HOWEVER IT DOES NOT DISPENSE THE CARD AS IT SHOULD. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM SELLING AS A NON FUNCTIONING UNIT AND AS IS.
THE DISPENSER WOULD MAKE A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR COMPLETE RESTORATION OR SIMPLY TO ENJOY AS IS. DISPITE THE CONDITION ISSUES, IT STILL LOOKS GREAT AND DISPLAYS VERY WELL! THIS IS A VERY HEAVY PIECE AND WEIGHS ABOUT 8 LBS. IT IS 7 1/2" WIDE AND 6 1/2" TALL.
RESTORED UNITS SELL IN EXCESS OF $500. I WILL OFFER THIS ONE FOR FAR LESS WITH SO PLEASE offer WITH CONFIDENCE. I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER AND QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
