Rare and stunning1950s vintage Jean-Boris Lacroix Stilnovo tall desk lamp (height 45 CM).

Jean-Boris Lacroix truly began his career in 1920 when he entered the workshop of Paul Dumas. He completed his formation by working as a drawer for the fashion designer, Madeleine Vionnet.He created for her, from 1925 to 1930, the design of her various houses. In this period, he met and worked with J. M. Frank, Pierre Chareau and Jean Dunand, but he also created furniture himself. From his numerous creations, the lightings were the most famous. In 1927, already, during his participation to the ‘Salon des Artistes Décorateurs’ and to the ‘Salon d’Automne’, he presented some lightings which immediately seduced the public: his perfect use of glass and metal, fitted to chandelier, sconces and lamps.Jean-Boris Lacroix died in 1984.

Description:

The lampshade is made of aluminium lacquered in a vintage mustard yellow finish.

The arm is madeof a metal brass flexible rod fixed to the steel base which is lacquered in a matt light greyfinish.

The switch is located on the base. The lamp has been rewired with a black fabric twisted cable.Thelamptakesone Edison screw bulb ( max 40 watt). It is fitted witha UK plug.

Condition:

In excellent vintage condition and in good working order. The lampshade, metal brass finish arm and steel base are all in good vintage condition. The mustard yellow lacquer finish on the lampshade and the matt light grey finishon the base are of recent application. Overall some wear to the lampshade however this is conducive to the vintage age of the lamp.All structural components of the lamp including fittings, lampshade, metal arm are the original 1950s product.The lamp is in a vintage state however it has been professionally re-sprayed and rewired bringing it back to its form glory andbeautywithout compromising the look or retro value of the item.
