This is an original and rare 1952 Adlai Stevenson presidential campaign poster. I am told this poster is from Stevenson’s 1952 campaign which was his first for President of the United States. The poster isn’t dated so might possibly be for the 1956 campaign. The poster features a large color portrait photo of Stevenson with noted photographer Arnold Newman’s name appearing just below the image. The poster has the “Country above self” quote from Stevenson printed at the top and “Volunteers for Stevenson” printed in large letters at the bottom.

Stevenson used the “Country Above Self” line is a speech he made to the American Legion in New York on August 25, 1952 which I think supports the 1952 date for the poster.

The poster has a union made emblem and the lower left hand corner is printed “National Headquarters: 7 South Dearborn, Chicago, Illinois”

This poster measures about 27” x 41” and some wear on the edges and some dried tape stains from tape applied to the back of the poster. There is a bit of loss to one corner and a small notch off the left edge neither of which affect image or text. There are pin holes in the corner and general wear. This poster shows wear and has tape stains but still displays well. I can direct you to people that will restore the poster if you wanted to do that but we are selling it as found.
