1953 Brass Coat of Arms for the Order of the Garter :
$21.95

Hi!
This is a fun historic piece from 1953. The coat of arms is of the Order of the Garter the \"Most Noble Order of the Garter\" which was founded in 1348, it is the highest order of chivalry and the most prestigious honor in engand and of the United Kingdom, and is dedicated to the image of arms of St. George as England\'s patron saint. It is awarded at the Sovereign\'s pleasure as his or her personal gift, on recipients from the United Kingdom and other commonwealth realms. Membership of the orer is limited to the Sovereign, the Prince of Wales, and no more than 24 members, or Companions. The order also includes supernumerary knights and ladies (e.g. members of the British Royal Family and foreign monarchs).
The order\'s emblem, depicted on insignia, is a garter with the motto Honi soit qui mal y pense which means \"shame on him who thinks evil of it\". On the lower ribbon Diev et mon Droit means God and My Right (the motto of the British monarch).
This trivet has a couple of areas with erosion- left side where the knee of the lion is, the very bottom edge of the trivet and a couple on the back face as well. Rubber feet are missing - well all but one. :-) made by the VA MetalCrafers.
I combine shipping and all payments received by 2PM Pacific Standard time ship same day.
Thank you,Sue
