Alvin Sharpe who convinced the Krewe of Rex to use these \"doubloons\" as a new kind of \'throw\' or \'favor\' during their 1960 Mardi Gras Day Parade. The doubloon is undated because the Rex Captain was uncertain about how acceptable these new \"doubloons\" would be to Krewe Members and the Parade Spectators. Needless to say, these \"doubloons\" were in instant hit and the rest of the story is history. The doubloonis much nicer than it appears in the photos, still retains most all of its original luster and is in Near Pristine Condition.Please buy with confidence!
