This sale is for a photo of Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin\'s first race car as a Team . In 1962 Ronnie and Buddy would race against each other in similar 409 Powered Chevys. Ronnie was the best ever to shift a 4-speed transmission and Buddy could not beat him. At the end of the 1962 season,Buddy approached Ronnie and told him that he was buying a new 1963 Z-11 Chevy Impala, with the new 427 Cubic Inch-430 Horsepower Motor-Ronnie would drive the car. This was the beginning of the most famous Race Team in Drag Racing History. This photo shows Sox & Martin\'s Z-11 named \"Mr. 427\"making a passat 75-80 Dragway, located in Monrovia,Maryland in 1963. Chevrolet pulled the plug on their Racing Program early in 1963,but Ronnie and Buddy finished the season in this car. The following year they got a sponsorship from Lincoln/Mercury and ran a 427 Comet in 1964 .This photo is made from myOriginal Slide dated JULY,1963 printed on 4\" x 6\" HP Advanced Photo Paper. The picture of the car in my1963 Mid-Eastern Drag News issue is for informational purposes only and will not be included . Nice nostalgic look into 1960s Drag Racing History. The photo that you receive will not have the white strip in it.
