Vintage early 1960's Marx Fred Flintstone On Dino Battery Operated Toy VF+ in Box, Stock # J-9073. Manufactured in Japan the toy is in exceptionally clean condition showing few if any signs of play wear. There is no flocking/spot wearon Plush fabric and no staining, resewn or heavily worn areas present. There is a small .50" split along top of tail (pic. 6) and one of the Orange string tethers has broken off from Fred's hand and is no longer present. Otherwise Dino is perfect as Fred still has Red Felt Tie and coloring on fabric vibrant with no mothing, staining or spot wear. He measures approximately 22" Long and worked perfectly when tested as motor runssuper strong working on a Bump-n-Go feature and emits Whistling Sound. His mouth opens and shuts while tail still wiggles after bumping into something and head moves from side to side with no looseness. The other Orange string Tether is still firmly attached and Fred still rocks back/forth in Driver Seat.The battery compartment is perfect with no dents, scratching or corrosion while on/off lever switch perfect as well with no cracking or chipped edges. The Black rubber tires are VF+ clean and have not flattened, cracked or show any signs of wear while the Felt Paws on base of feet still have Pink Coloring and Brown Elastic strap over Dino's Bodyremains unbroken. The Brown Tin Litho on Canopy VF+ with no wear spots and Dino still rolls freely acrossany flat surface as Flintstones sticker on metalwheel baseclean with no scratching or stains.The Purple/ Black spottedfabric on Dino's bodyis VF+ clean condition with no spotting, stains or discoloringand plastic head on Dino, Fred show no signs of paint loss or wear. The box is Original of course and does exhibits somemoderate signs of surface, corner and edgewear. There is a piece ofRed tape onmiddleedge of right corner and Four quarter sized holes on front of box which previous owner repaired by placing cardboard under lid and re-coloring to match the box. There is also one 6" section on back left side of box which affected by tearing and repaired as well. It is not as bad as it sounds as coloring on box still vibrant with no other repairspresent as it still retains shapewith no heavy creasing or crushspots evident.It measures approximately 15.50" Long by 13" Wide and sits 7.50" Deep. It has some small .1" splits on bottom side edges and corners have some blunting, wear as it is not amint example Box by any means but still grades in the Good/Good+ range. The Marx Dino toy sold from 1961-65 I believeas this dates from 1961-2range asbox marked Motor made in Japanwhich removed fromMarx Toy Boxeslater in production cycles. I found thisToy at a rare winter estate sale recently where I stood for several hours with rain and sleet drizzling over me in hopes ofbeing amongst firstgroup let in(I was number 14 as one person even set up a pup tent a day prior..she was # 3). Luckily for me alot of other people went into the other sections of estate for Jewelry, Instruments, records while I asked and was directed to the toy area with two other people following directly behind me.
