This is an original full sized handle from the 1960s.
Signed in a sharpie or something similar.

This is not the PickRick drumstick which was smaller and later sold as a souvenir in the 70s.
Measures 36\" long. 3.75\'\' at base.
Stamped Genuine Hickory.
Axe handle is in used condtion with a split on the base, plenty of wear and what seems to be light spray paint at one end.
A populist Democrat,Maddoxcame to prominence as a staunch segregationist, when he refused to serve black customers in his Atlanta restaurant, in defiance of the Civil Rights Act. Yet as Governor, he oversaw notable improvements in black employment. Later he served as Lieutenant Governor under Jimmy Carter.
